Homeschool Mother's Journal March 14th

 The Homeschool Mother's Journal
I am joining up with a "meme" today, read more and link on up with me over at The Homeschool Chick!

In my life this week...
We have a big and busy week coming up.  I need to get to the library. I am pulling together materials to plan school for next year.  I can't believe it is time do do that already!
I also need to make sure we have all the things together that we need to bring with us for our weekend away including the birthday presents the girls made for their Dad as we will be celebrating up there.

In our home school this week...

We have an abbreviated week due to all the goings on.  Jenna and I are going to finish our devotional series in Narnia with The Last Battle.  In History we will be finishing (hopefully) the Aeneid.  Using Dragon Speak to do her some of her subjects is going fairly well though it's learning curve for her voice is rather steep.  She is almost done with BJU Grammar for the year and she is doing really well on Math Whizz and is almost back up to grade level.

Rowan is still working through Herodotus's Histories in Omnibus, Advanced Genetics in BJU Biology, finishing Material Logic this week, and heading into Colonial History in Human OdysseyJacob's Geometry is going well and she is doing very well in it with some help from her Dad, Khan Academy and Teaching Company Geometry.  We hit an occasional snag in God and the History of Art when the assignment is go outside and copy flowers and such, there are none here yet!

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

Outside to pick up the leaf piles I made yesterday raking.  The library today to pick up the next in the 39 Clues series for Jenny.  Piano lessons on Tuesday.  The church to help at a memorial service gathering on Wednesday.  Charlton, Mass this weekend to visit family and have Rowan fitted for her junior internship costume at Old Sturbridge Village.
My favorite thing this week was...
Watching the chicken coop go up!

What's working/not working for us...

Daylight Saving Time.  Blech.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have...

I am in the planning stage for next year and I really need to figure out a game plan for 5th-8th for Jenna.  Rowan is so much easier (words I never thought I would say) when it comes to school curriculum.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share...

I chose our curriculum for next year a few weeks back. Glad to have it over with!

Dropping by...still love your sweet blog! Wish I made it by more often. It is that time of year to plan...isn't it? We have next year's history/core/science....I am looking at BJU for some other options. Can you drop by and leave me some of your favorites? Do you use them for English/Grammar?

Your Frank Lloyd Wright quote is funny next to your photos! We live near a town that is knows for his achitectural structures. I hope it goes well!

Daylight savings time has been a killer for us this week too. We are all getting up at different times... and having a tough time getting kiddos to bed too.

How great that you got so many photos - and put together such a nice photo collage already! I totally agree about daylight savings time! Visiting from Hip Homeschool Hop. Deb @

We are finally getting used to Daylight Savings Time. Although, I must admit I've been feeling a little drained since the change. I love this time of year when we get to shop for curricula! Reading is definitely a huge focus here, too. Stopping by from THMJ.
