June 2nd Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
Everything is damp from the rain last night.  New leaves are hanging heavily under their burden of raindrops.  It is light out but the sun has yet to make an appearance through the clouds and the wrens are hard at work making their nest in the beautiful birdhouse my sister gave me for Christmas.

I am thinking...
How many school days are left and what is the point in a summer without vacation or Washburn.  sigh

I am thankful for...
The rain.  A working vehicle.  Food in the pantry, the clothes on our backs, work for my husband and the health and well being of my family.  I am thankful for our girls and our homeschool, for our parents and our sisters and their husbands.  And I am very grateful it is warm out at last.

                  From the kitchen...
The kettle bubbling for the girls tea when they wake and the hum of the refrigerator.

I am wearing...
My old jeans with the rip in the knee and a favorite slate blue summer shirt I finally hauled out of a bag in the attic.

I am creating...
A plan for finishing school with Rowan and summer reading lists.

I am going...
To Coonamesset Farm later on with the girls to see the sheep being sheared.

I am reading...
The Americans:The Colonial Experience by Daniel Boorstin,  True Compass, by Ted Kennedy and the latest Home School Enrichment magazine

I am hoping...
That I can rest in and trust God's mater plan for my life and not go off half cocked with one of my own ideas.

I am hearing...
The early morning quiet one gets in the late spring.  The birds outside, the hum of my dying computer, the streamers on the ceiling fan gently scraping the dust from places I can't reach and the guinea pigs rustling in their hay.

Around the house...
Still quiet.  A fresh pot of coffee is brewing.  I hear my husband up and getting dressed and their is movement from the couch as Amy contemplates getting up for school.

One of my favorite things...
The stillness of the morning before everyone else gets up where I can sit and praise God for a new day and pray that I don't screw it up.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Thursday park day, a home school group meeting, 4-H and a baby shower.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
